#LSN_Outdoors Boundary Waters Expo
GRAND MARAIS, MINNESOTA - March 25, 2019 (LSN) Kick off the summer with your family during the first weekend in June. You can learn more about opportunities to travel safely in the great outdoors on the Gunflint Trail and check out the family-friendly happenings in Grand Marais.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can plan a wilderness trip at the Boundary Waters Expo, and on Saturday, June 8, everyone is invited to run the streets of Grand Marais during the Voyage North 5k/10k, and then enjoy the retail, dining and entertainment of the Grand Marais Block Party.
Cook County offers more extensive access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) than any other place in Minnesota. The Boundary Waters Expo will give first-timers and experienced outdoor travelers who have already explored the multimillion-acre region both a variety of information on planning a trip to the BWCAW. The
Boundary Waters Expo is Saturday, June 8 – Sunday, June 9 at Bearskin Lodge on the Gunflint Trail. The expo features nature-wise presenters, hands-on demonstrations from lodges and outfitting exhibitors located along the Gunflint Trail and throughout Cook County, activities, tips and tricks, as well as new equipment exhibits.
Our location on the edge of a beautiful BWCA lake provides a perfect opportunity to test canoes, paddles and other gear. Wet your paddle, string up a tarp, and crawl into a tent, and if you like it take it home!
Take in presentations from experts who have been there and done that. Whether you're a seasoned tripper or don't know one end of a paddle from the other, you'll learn something new at the BWCA expo.
Cheer on runners and walkers at the 2nd Annual Voyage North 5k/10k, Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. in the streets of Grand Marais. Participants and spectators will enjoy the scenic beauty of Lake Superior, surrounding Sawtooth Mountains and the quaint harbor town of Grand Marais.
The 2nd Annual Grand Marais Block Party will include live music, games, vendor booths and more Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be stand-up paddleboard demonstrations in the harbor, woodblock print demonstrations by well-known artist Betsy Bowen, winery and brewery samples, and kite making.
