TBWHA's Fury B lost in OT in the Gold Medal game at the Ontario Women's Hockey Provincial Champsionships in Toronto.
Thunder Bay Midget Fury B gold medal game against South Huron Sabres left Fury taking home the silver. South Huron Sabres ranked 2nd in Ontario were the team to beat at this year's Ontario Women's Hockey Championships in Toronto this weekend. Fury B and Sabres both went undefeated to meet head to head in the gold medal game. The game was fast paced with both teams eager to take home the gold medals. No score after an entertaining 1st period of back and forth play, both teams putting the puck on the net but were unable to score. At 9:21 in the 2nd period Sabres opened the scoring with a goal from Jayda Consitt.
Fury would continue battling, eventually tying the game at 5:22 in the third period. Cassandra Carangi would find the back of the net with a feed from Hannah Schnepf a few deek moves to tie up the game. The crowd was on their feet with only a few minutes left in regulation play as a shot from point looked as if it crossed the line but the referee's consulted and called a "no goal". In OT, play continued back and forth with neither team dominating the play. At 6:26 of OT, with a scramble in front of Fury goalie Linsday Humeniuk, Sabres Emma Regier managed to squeek in the winning goal leaving Fury to take the Silver.
Fury ended Provincials with 5-1 record allowing only 4 goals/6 games and with Lindsay Humeniuk (goalie) notching 3 shutouts to her name.
