THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  May 30, 2018  (LSN)  Cambrian Players presents Almost, Maine by John Cariani, opening on May 30, 2018 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  Almost, Maine is a set of vignettes about various facets of love that all take place on a Friday night in the small, fictional community of Almost in northern Maine. The northern lights provide the magical backdrop for the play.

If you have ever fallen in love or fallen out of love, ever wondered what love would be like or thought about what it shouldn’t be like, then this play is for you. The characters find themselves in situations that hold familiar themes about love, presented in unusual ways, and work their way through them to resolutions – happy or sad – that the audience will recognize and appreciate.

The setting and the subject matter drew director Julie MacCoy to this play. She has enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in Almost, Maine, bringing her personal experience with small, northern towns and people to this production, her first as a director with Cambrian Players. Ms MacCoy has previously acted in Cambrian productions, such as The Ladies’ Man and My Favorite Year, and has also been a director for Paramount Live.

This production includes familiar Cambrian actors, including Jessica Krasnichuk, Mari Lukkaroinen, Elliott Cromarty, Chris Jason and Lauren Payette. Newcomers to Cambrian, John Condon, Kevin Cunningham and Sheena Larson, bring to Almost, Maine their talents honed in other local theatre groups. Cambrian’s strong team of production volunteers is led by veteran Stage Manager Nathalie Roy.

Almost, Maine is presented at the lecture theatre at Confederation College. The play runs May 30th to June 2nd and June 6th to June 9th. All performances start at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 on Wednesdays and $25 all other nights; $20 for seniors and students every night. Tickets are available at Calico Coffee Shop, Thunder Pet (both locations) and at the door, or online at Eventbrite (search Cambrian Players).
