Lakehead Choral Group' Spring Concert

#LSN_Arts
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - April 7, 2019 (LSN) Thunder Bay's own Lakehead Choral Group (LCG) will perform their annual spring concert on April 24th at St. Agnes Church in Thunder Bay.
The choir is pictured performing today at McKellar Place Retirement Residence in Thunder Bay. LCG performs several times a year at retirement residences and long-term care homes, as a way of giving back to the community and spreading the joy of music. These "sing-outs" also serve as lead-ups to LCG's bi-yearly concerts.
"The theme of this spring's concert is "Conductor's Playlist," said Wendy O'Connor, Lakehead Choral Group member and Public Relations Coordinator. "2019 is our Music Director Susan Korstanje's 25th year with the choir, and we're all celebrating. The varied and entertaining repertoire has been selected by Susan to represent her choral music career, with an emphasis on her years with LCG."
The repertoire includes sacred, folk, gospel and modern numbers - everything from J.S. Bach to Simon & Garfunkel. Do you love Edvard Grieg? You'll hear him. Ballads with lyrics by Robert Burns? The concert has you covered.
Lakehead Choral Group is now in its 63rd year. Founded in 1956, the group has had several conductors and has evolved from performing a mix of choral concerts and musicals, to its current specialty of bi-yearly themed choral concerts. Several of its choristers have been with the group for decades. LCG's most longstanding active member is bass singer Bob Grieve, who has sung with the choir for over 50 years.
Lakehead Choral Group is a registered charity.
