THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO May 9, 2018 (LSN) This week young actors at Paramount Live are setting sail with their new musical production of Anything Goes (Young Performers Edition). Anything Goes is a classic musical comedy that is filled with delicious songs by Cole Porter. The co-directors of the show Olivia McInnis and Carly Martin said that “show has been close to our hearts for as long as we can remember. It is a piece of art that gives us the inspiration and courage to follow what drives our souls and the ability to break the stereotypes that have divided us.”
When Billy Crocker (Cael Dixon) hears that his former love Hope Harcourt (Sophie Delin) is on board the same ship as his evangelist-turned-nightclub-singer friend Reno Sweeney (Jessica Smith), he decides he must dive in for another chance, not knowing that Hope is on her way to England to marry the very wealthy Evelyn Oakleigh (Ethan Anderson). To remain onboard the ship, Billy borrows the ticket and passport of a wanted gangster from an incognito public enemy number 13, Moon Face Martin (Forrester Yaschuk), disguising himself as Mooney’s missing partner.
“It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s a ‘de-lovely’ time to set sail this spring with the talented young cast of Anything Goes at Paramount Live” said Artistic Director Candi Badanai. Anything Goes is the first show of this spring 2018 season; with Bye, Bye Birdie, A Double Bill of Greek Plays, and 101 Dalmatians/Chicken Little playing in the weeks and months to follow. “The theatre company (Paramount Live) is truly a leading educational facility that provides performance arts training from children aged three and up” said Badanai. “We provide a safe environment that young actors feel respected and free to discover themselves while working as a team to build a production” said Badanai who added that the smiles on the young performers faces makes everyday a joy to be able to create theatre magic with. “It’s a place where young lives are positively transformed one musical at a time.” And the Co-directors of Anything Goes couldn’t agree more “as putting on a show, collaborating with individuals to create art requires numerous elements in order for it to flourish” said McInnis and Martin. “These kids… these brilliant young actors onstage have been nothing less than a dream, impressing us and showing us what it means to work hard and how to put doing what you love first”

Anything Goes plays May 10, 11, 12, 2018 at the Paramount Theatre (Maple Tops 24 Court Street S.) with a nightly curtain time of 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children/students/seniors. They may be purchased in advance at Maple Tops or at the door of the theatre before show time.
