THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO   November 28, 2017  (LSN)  This week Paramount Live presents Disney's Sleeping Beauty KIDS as directed by Theresa Thibert with an opening act by Theatre Babies Goldilocks and the Three Bears as directed by Jack Kotanen. These productions take to the Paramount Theatre stage on November 30, December 1, 2, 2017.

Disney's Sleeping Beauty KIDS tells the classic fairy tale of Princess Aurora's sixteenth birthday, and three fairies – Flora, Fauna and Merryweather who must use their magic to save her from the spell of the evil sorceress, Maleficent! The fairies ensure that Aurora only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with a kiss from her betrothed, Prince Phillip. To prevent Phillip from rescuing Aurora, Maleficent kidnaps and imprisons him. The good fairies are the last hope to free Phillip so that he can awaken Aurora.

Disney's Sleeping Beauty KIDS Lake Superior NewsDirector Theresa Thibert comes to Paramount Live to direct her first show with the troupe after many years of professional vocal experience and training. She said she is ”extremely thrilled to be part of the Paramount Live family, and the opportunity to work with Thunder Bay’s brightest, most talented young stars.” She has learned from each and every student in this cast, and thrives on the energy and love each child has for theatre, singing, and acting. She loves working in the theatre as she described it as: “you are a family, and watching how kind and caring you have been to each other since day one is beautiful… the sense of community and support is what is at the heart of theatre” and she said that she has found directing theatre inspiring by how much she has learned herself through teaching these young singers, and watching them grow through the process.

Families attending the show this week will also be treated to an opening act as performed by the Theatre Babies program with their presentation of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Director Jack Kotanen said “with only twelve rehearsals, it has been absolutely incredible to see what these kids have accomplished”. “I couldn’t be more proud of them and their hard work” as eight young children tell the tale of a little girl named Goldilocks who went for a walk in the forest with a few twists in store for audience members who already think they know this classic tale.

The goal at Paramount Live is to enable their students to feel empowered while creating theatre and surely they are doing just that with the forty students taking to the stage this week at the Maple Top Paramount Theatre. Shows run November 30, December 1, and 2, 2017 with a curtain nightly at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 adults and $12 for kids/students/seniors and are available at Maple Tops and at the theatre door on show nights.
