Across the Northern Ontario

#LSN_Econ
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - July 9, 2018 (LSN) Wendy Landry President of NOMA stated "NOMA is disappointed with the decision of greyhound cancelling routes past Sudbury.
We at NOMA have been advocating for Subsidized inter community bus services to
Enable our citizens to travel between our communities for appointments, events, shopping, and more. This cripples they ability even more. Many cannot afford airfare and don’t have their own vehicles so other then asking friends or one of the local services that are trying to service our are
as greyhound was always an option. Also the ability to ship goods from community to community on a bus for quick service will also now be lost.
The southern part of the province receives subsidy for transportation services and we are only asking for The same so that these companies can survive. We have smaller populations so ridership will be lower but we still deserve to be subsidize the same as our communities to the south"
Greyhound Canada has taken the decided to downsize its operations. The company has notified all proper authorities of its intention to discontinue some or all service – both passenger and freight -- Effective October 31, 2018.
In Ontario, we will operate substantially as we do today in the southern and eastern regions of the province with no changes in the Toronto and Ottawa areas.
There will be changes in the northern part of the province. Service will be discontinued on the Trans-Canada Highway, west of Sudbury.
