THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - May 10, 2019  (LSN)   A strong challenge by the Conservative Party of Canada to take this Northwestern Ontario riding was announced tonight at the Italian Cultural Centre. The riding association acclaimed Frank Pullia, formerly a Thunder Bay City Councillor for three terms over 24 years, as the Conservative candidate for Canada’s 43rd General Election, scheduled for 21 October 2019.

Pullia has been a citizen and community activist in Thunder Bay and Region for 47 years. As a business consultant, he has worked for and with the industries that form the backbone of our regional economy. With both an undergraduate degree and an MBA from Lakehead University as well as CPA and CMA designations, he is keenly aware of the challenges faced by communities in our region and the amazing opportunities yet to be realized.

As he did at Thunder Bay City Hall, Frank Pullia is expected to continue his approach to value-based politics. He brings a strong belief that we cannot keep doing things the same way and expect different or better results. “It is different now, because our citizens expect more from their elected officials, they expect to be listened to…they expect respect for the work that they do to build our community and our country and for the tax dollars that they send to Ottawa. Most importantly, they expect that their values, wishes and aspirations be fully reflected through their Member of Parliament.”

Key priorities for Pullia will be making life affordable for the average citizen, maintaining and/or increasing investment in regional infrastructure and services, and to build and develop our region’s resources in an environmentally sustainable and progressive manner. “We want to identify new opportunities for Canada as a whole, and in particular, this magnificent region. We

want to increase both domestic and foreign investment and ensure workforce readiness, attract qualified newcomers to Canada and Northwestern Ontario and enable growth in a healthy and sustainable way that respects our people and our planet.”

Pullia will also be seeking to ensure that he is a voice in the country for rational decision- making which balances needs versus wants and is built on shared values of financial, social and environmental responsibilities, as well as transparency and accountability.
