GRAND MARAIS, MINNESOTA March 10, 2018 – (LSN) – Cook County Firewise, along with other partners, is holding two workshops in northern Minnesota to help Forestry Contractors access contract work.
“We have a number of fuels reduction projects over the next several years and there is a need for more contractors to participate,” said Todd Armbruster, Firewise Coordinator. “This workshop will help existing and potential new contractors to learn about opportunities with multiple agencies."
The workshops, one to be held in Ely and one in Grand Marais, are intended for both loggers and landscape/tree service businesses to help decipher the government contract bidding process, learn about current and future hand and mechanical work projects on public and private lands, and discuss challenges they may be facing.
Fuels reduction projects help to mitigate an area’s wildfire risk. There is no fee to attend; the workshops are fee. The workshop also qualifies for three hours of Minnesota Logger Education Program credit.
