THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO, June 13, 2018 (LSN) Mustapha El Kahil but most people call me ‘Mo.’ I am a 27 year-old Registered Nurse. I work in a long-term care home in the city of Thunder Bay. I have a genuine passion for caring for the elderly population in our community. I have spent the past five years working with the seniors in Thunder Bay. I moved to this city in 2009, to work on my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Lakehead University. While here, my family and I fell in love with Thunder Bay and the community.
9 years ago, my family opened a small family establishment locally known as Kabab Village.
We brought our family to yours through our menu, and have truly appreciated all the support from the people of Thunder Bay.
I chose to stay in Thunder Bay after graduation where I have enjoyed a great employment opportunity, along with the beauty of the geographical landscapes and the affordable cost of living. I think it is important for our community to retain young professionals who come to Thunder Bay for their education, as well as encourage business growth. I have become recently engaged and am looking forward to starting my own family in this community. I purchased a home in the Northwood Ward some time ago and have since come to learn firsthand, about many of the struggles Northwood Residents are facing. I have a demonstrated leadership ability and a long-standing passion for politics. It would be a great honour to serve as your Councillor for Northwood Ward in the 2018 Municipal Elections.
My main areas of focus are:
- Ensuring the citizens of Northwood get the best value for their tax dollars.
- Improving infrastructure within the ward, focusing on community safety.
- Continuing with work the city has begun to improve the storm sewer system in our neighbourhoods, assisting with floods in residential properties.
- Encouraging business development in our community.
I plan to bring a fresh and knowledgeable perspective to the Council through focused leadership and strong advocacy on behalf of YOU, the people in Northwood. It is time that Northwood residents receive the community services and support that they deserve - equal to those enjoyed by the other wards within the City of Thunder Bay.
I look forward to meeting you, and listening to your concerns and input during my 2018 campaign. A vote for “Mo” means YOUR voice will be brought to and heard by council.
