Thunder Bay – Council Delays Decision On Police Budget. Needs to Get Money From Ottawa. They Have Millions For An Art Gallery.

Thunder Bay Art Gallery Federal Announcement Lake Superior News

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO January 21, 2019  (LSN)  Only a million dollars to rid the City of Thunder Bay,  the Thunder Bay Police Service, the Police Services Board and the Thunder Bay Public Library of racism?  Its cheap at twice the price.  One million dollars and our city will be cured of that social cancer?  Why are we even arguing.

We need to get down on our knees and and thank our appointed Police Service Board overlord for leading us out of that cesspool of systemic racism into a bright new world of sunshine lollipops and rainbows.  All Hail Our Overlord!

Everyone sing along:

OK. lets get more serious here

Lockwood, who for the time being has sole voting authority for the board, acknowledged that police are coming forward with a tough request

If Lockwood has s the sole vote, then this request is coming from him,  He can ask for $10 million. What does he care?  He does not live here.  None of this comes out of his pockets.

I think its a federal responsibility.  The OIPRD report is all about policing and Indigenous peoples.  First Nations funding comes from Ottawa.  This additional funding needs to come from there.  Not Thunder Bay. Not Queens Park.

Ottawa has lots of cash to spend funding an art gallery that nobody wants, located in an area that makes zero fiscal sense and is difficult for people to reach.  Why not toss a few million dollars our way to address recommendations in the Office of the Independent Police Review Director report?  Which is more important?  That art gallery or police services?

Plus there is a federal election coming up.  This is the perfect time to ask for that cash. How can it say no? Its all about perception.
