Toronto On Pace For Most Murders In History

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, September 17, 2018 (LSN) There have been 89 homicides so far in Toronto in 2018. Toronto is on pace for the most murders in the history of the city, following the death of 22-year-old Yohannes Brhanu a few days ago.
The 89th homicide matches the number of murders in 1991.
However, makings things more disturbing today is that the surge in homicides in 1991 were caused by a gang war, while the current spate of murders are more random, more spread throughout the city, and less attributable to a specific gang conflict.
In 2017, there were 65 homicides, and in 2016 there were 75. This year, 46 of the homicides have been shooting, while 19 were stabbings.
24 of the homicides were put into the ‘other’ category, which includes the April attack in which 10 people were killed.
While some politicians have used the rise in homicides as an excuse to try and infringe on the rights of law-abiding Canadian gun owners, the reality is that politically-correct politicians have become more interested in virtue-signalling than in fighting crime.
And in many communities, the family unit has broken down entirely, and money from the government has proven to be no replacement for that lost structure.
That, alongside police who are often ignored by politicians and hamstrung from doing their jobs, has reduced safety, and the tragic results are there for all to see.
