Cook County Parks & Trails Commission Special Meeting  Lake Superior News

COOK COUNTY, MINNESOTA - August 1, 2018 (LSN)  The Cook County Parks & Trails Commission held their monthly meeting on July 30; however, no formal decisions or recommendations were made due to absences which resulted in a lack of Quorum. A special meeting will be on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, from 5-7 pm, in the Commissioners Board Room to address outstanding action items.

 

The agenda at this week’s meeting included:

  • Final Draft of the Sawtooth Bluff Master Plan,
  • A Parks & Trails Outreach Event,
  • Communications Plan,
  • The Leo Lake Landing project, and
  • Review of Cook County Comprehensive Trails Plan Action Items.

Members of the public who live on the Old Ski Hill Road joined the discussion around the Sawtooth Bluff Plan Final Draft.

 

“This is an exciting time for the Parks & Trails Commission as we finalize the Master Plan for the Sawtooth Bluffs,” said Lisa Kerr, Land Commissioner/Parks & Trails Director. “We look forward to planning a public outreach event to engage more citizens in the work of the Parks & Trails Commission, and moving forward with these projects.”

 

Once the Sawtooth Bluff Master Plan is finalized and approved, a Parks & Trails Outreach Event will be held and will highlight the new plan along with other initiatives and agencies. Other potential event partners include: The United States Forest Service, MN Department of Natural Resources and the Northwoods Volunteer Connection

 

Tuesday’s special meeting agenda will be review the Final Sawtooth Bluffs Master Plan Draft and plans for the Outreach Event.

 

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday Sept. 24, 2018, from 5-7 pm. All meetings are open to the public.
