SAULT STE. MARIE, ONTARIO  April 11, 2018  (LSN) More than 200 travel and tourism industry representatives from around the province are making a voyage to Sault Ste. Marie this fall. The community has been selected to host the 2018 Ontario Travel Information Services Conference. Taking place October 16 to 18, this is the first time the forum is being held in Northern Ontario. The annual event is facilitated by Destination Ontario.

The Ontario Travel Information Services Conference brings together travel industry staff, government officials and destination marketing agencies. Delegates learn latest trends, share best practices and engage with partners. This year’s conference was secured by Tourism Sault Ste. Marie, in collaboration with Tourism Northern Ontario and the local Ontario Travel Information Centre, following a competitive bid process.

“We’re always looking to bring new and different events to our community, and the 2018 Ontario Travel Information Services Conference is a prime example,” said Jennifer King-Callon, Manager of Meetings, Conventions & Travel Trade for Tourism Sault Ste. Marie. “We thank our partners for their support in allowing our community to secure the forum, and we look forward to welcoming the delegates in October.”

Tourism Sault Ste. Marie is a division of the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation. Attracting visitors is the division’s primary goal. One its core tactics is securing and supporting major conferences, festivals and sport tournaments.

The host venue for the 2018 Ontario Travel Information Services Conference is Delta Hotels by Marriott Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront. A number of other local venues will be showcased, including the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site and Heritage Discovery Centre. Registration and other information will be available in the coming weeks at www.oticsconference.com.
