MALONE, NEW YORK   – March 29, 2019, 2019  (LSN)  U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Burke Station apprehended ten illegal aliens in two separate incidents on Monday, March 25.

On Monday afternoon, while patrolling the border near Fort Covington, NY, agents from the Burke Station located seven men who had illegally crossed from Canada into the United States.  Five of the individuals are citizens of Mexico, one is a dual citizen of Algeria and France, and one is a citizen of Spain.  All seven individuals stated they do not possess any immigration documentation allowing them to enter or remain in the United States. Agents took the group into custody and transported them to the Burke Border Patrol Station for processing.  The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York will also be prosecuting four of the men for illegal entry under 8 USC 1325 and two of the men for Re-entry after Removal, a felony under 8 USC 1326. The seventh individual will be processed administratively and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) for removal proceedings.

Later Monday, the Tactical Communications Center of the Swanton Border Patrol Sector notified U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Burke Station that there were three people illegally crossing the international boundary into the United States near Chateaugay, NY.  Border Patrol agents responded to the area and located the individuals.  Two of the men were immediately apprehended.  One of these men stated he is a citizen of Mexico and the other man stated he is a citizen of Nicaragua. The third individual fled the scene upon seeing Border Patrol agents, but was captured after agents tracked him to a nearby location.  During questioning, all three men stated they do not possess any immigration documentation allowing them to enter or remain in the United States.  Agents took the group into custody and transported them to the Burke Border Patrol Station for processing.  The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York will be prosecuting the men for illegal entry under 8 USC 1325.

“It is through teamwork, intelligence and technology that our agents were able to apprehend these illegal aliens and bring them to justice,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent William Maddocks. “I’m proud of the commitment of our agents as well as the staff at our Tactical Communications Center, and equally appreciative of the partnerships that we have with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, ICE and ERO.”
