Suspicious package investigation leads to drug seizure

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service seized 11.4 pounds of marijuana following the investigation of a suspicious package on Friday, July 13, 2018.
As a result of an investigation, TBPS Drug Unit officers arrested two accused persons on Monday, July 16, 2018

Israel Ruiz Robles, 24, of Fort Erie, ON is charge with Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking and Fail to Comply with a Condition of his Recognizance.

Sagan Venayagamoorthi, 25, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Both accused appeared in court on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 and have been remanded into custody with a future court date.
The estimated potential street value of the marijuana seized totals $51,900

 

Drug Unit seizes three kilograms of cocaine

Members of the Thunder Bay Police Service seized nearly three kilograms of cocaine following the search of an apartment in the zero-to-100 block of Cumberlan Street.
As a result of an investigation, members of the TBPS Drug Unit obtained and executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant on the residence just after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018.
While police were at the residence, the accused returned home and was arrested.

Tanner Hunt, 22, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with:
· Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
Hunt has been remanded into custody with a court appearance scheduled for Friday, July 20, 2018.
The estimated potential street value of drugs seized exceeds $296,000.

Search Warrant Execution Results in Large Seizure

The TBPS responded to call for service at a residence in the 100 block of Ruttan Street just before noon on June 15, 2018.
The responding patrol officers observed a handgun, suspected drugs and cash in the residence. An immediate search of the residence resulted in the arrest of two males. The residence was secured awaiting a search warrant to seize the items located within the residence. within the residence.
Members of the TBPS Intelligence Unit executed the search warrant on the residence at 8:30 p.m. on June 15, 2018. A large quantity of Oxycodone pills, Hydromorph pills, Marihuana and Cocaine were located along with a large sum of Canadian Currency and handguns with ammunition.
Kalid Yousef, 26 years old of Edmonton, Alberta and Adrian Myles Puentes-Reed, 25 years old of Hamilton, Ontario have each been charges with:
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x4
· Careless Storage of a Firearm x4
 Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x4
· Possession a Prohibited Weapon
Both appeared in court over the weekend and have been remanded into custody.
This investigation is ongoing.
