OPP CHARGE THUNDER BAY MAN WITH DRUG OFFENCES

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - October 11, 2018 (LSN) On October 9, 2018, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Thunder Bay OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB), concluded a lengthy investigation involving drug trafficking in the Thunder Bay area. OPP were assisted by officers from the Thunder Bay Police Service, Anishinabek Police Service and Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service.
As a result of the four month investigation, approximately four kilograms of Cocaine, approximately one kilogram of Marihuana and a large quantity of cash was seized.
Daniel Montgomery, 55 years of age, from Thunder Bay, has been arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking in Schedule l Substance - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA),
- Possession of a Schedule l Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
- Possession of a Schedule ll Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Marihuana contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
He has been remanded into custody.
