THUNDER BAY’S FIRST HOMICIDE OF 2018 NOW DEEMED A SUICIDE WITH AN AUDIENCE.

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO -  March 3, 2019   (LSN) Appearing in Courtroom 303 on Thursday March 7,2019 before Ontario Court Justice Danalyn MacKinnon is 46 year old CHRISTOPHER ACHNEEPINESKUM & 37 year old RACHEL MOONIAS.

A preliminary hearing had started Wednesday March 6,2019 to determine if there was enough evidence to proceed to trial in the death of 28 year old Nicholas Wendal Baxter

TWO ACCUSED SPENT OVER A YEAR IN JAIL AWAITING THIS DAY.

ALL CHARGES AGAINST ACCUSED ARE WITHDRAWN.
CHRISTOPHER ACHNEEPINESKUM & RACHEL MOONIAS WALK FREE FROM COURTHOUSE. 

ACHNEEPINESKUM had been charged with first degree murder and MOONIAS was charged with accessory after the fact, which was later upgraded to manslaughter.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on February 5th, 2018, police attended a motel in the 400 block of Cumberland Street North.

Nicholas Wendal Baxter was taken to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences where he was declared dead.

A post mortem examination occurred in Toronto on Thursday, February 8,2018.

It has been confirmed that Crown Attorney Rob Kozak withdrew all charges against ACHNEEPINESKUM & MOONIAS related to the death of Baxter

Inside Edition sources indicate that Baxter committed suicide by hanging with an audience.

Sources indicate that ACHNEEPINESKUM and MOONIAS walked free from the courtroom yesterday after the Crown’s decision.

They had spent 13 months in jail.
