THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - January 18, 2019   (LSN) Employee on work VISA accused of stealing  $26 000 worth of inventory. Appearing by video from the Thunder Bay Police Station this morning, Friday January 18,2019 is 25 year old(he turns 26 next Wednesday) ARMAAN ABROL.  

Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbon is presiding and Crown Attorney Katrina Van Kessel is here along with Duty Counsel.

ABROL was arrested by TBPS last evening and is facing a charge of theft over 5000$

ABROL is a citizen of India and here in Canada on a work visa. Inside Edition sources indicate that ABROL was stealing merchandise from his employer at STAPLES on Memorial Avenue and selling it for cash. He’s accused of stealing 26 000$ worth of electronics.

ABROL’S work visa expires in May 2019. He has a few supporters in the courtroom.
ABROL has no criminal record in Canada, but he’s not a Canadian citizen. A 1500$ cash deposit is required, he must report to TBPS by telephone every Monday and Wednesday as well as reside in the 100 block of South Franklin St. He’s not allowed to attend STAPLES store at 767 Memorial Avenue except to get employment records. He’s also ordered not to apply for any travel documents.

Sources indicate that ABROL is no longer working at STAPLES and other employees are being investigated as well.
ABROL’S supporters leave the courthouse to acquire the cash required to get him out of custody. His next court appearance is February 12,2019 in courtroom 105 @ 9:30am.
