THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - December 14, 2018  (LSN)  he Thunder Bay Police Service has arrested and charged a 22-year-old male in connection with the homicide of 17-year-old Braiden Jacob.
Working in conjunction with Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service officers, an arrest was made shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018. The accused was transported to Thunder Bay where he remains in custody.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 to face a charge of second-degree murder. The identity of the accused is being withheld pending that court appearance.

Officers were dispatched to the southern portion of the park just after 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 after a passerby saw what they believed might be a body.
The body was sent to Toronto where a post-mortem is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 12. More information is expected to be known following that post-mortem examination.

Police continue to hold the scene at Chapples Park.

The Thunder Bay Police Service continues to investigate a homicide that took place in a residence on the 300 block of South Brodie Street on Sunday, Nov. 11.

Police responded to the address following reports of possible gunfire. When they arrived they located a male with serious life-threatening injuries. Police, with the assistance of Superior North EMS paramedics and Thunder Bay Fire Rescue firefighters, began emergency medical treatment.

Geofrey Christopher CORBEIL, 35, of Thunder Bay, was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in an effort to save his life.

He was pronounced deceased shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11.

This is an ongoing investigation. The TBPS believes this to be a targeted incident and therefore there is no public safety concerns at this time.

The female victim of an Oct. 29 assault at a Dufferin Street apartment died from her injuries on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018.

The next of kind have been notified. A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in Thunder Bay.

Investigators are expected to change a charge of Attempt Murder to Second-Degree Murder against Peter Keeash, 25.

Keeash remains in custody.

Roger Donald MCKAY, 34, of Thunder Bay appeared in court on a charge of First-Degree Murder on Oct. 31, 2018. He was remanded to the district jail. The ongoing investigation has led to this charge being dropped.

He was released from jail unconditionally on Nov. 1.

Marlene Lou KWANDIBENS, 37, Terryl Nicole Irene MICHON, 21, and Darren Steven OOMBASH, 24, all of Thunder Bay, remain in custody each charged with First-Degree Murder.

Tracey Claudette Mawakeesic, 48-year-old of Thunder Bay appeared in court today after being charged in relation to the structural fire earlier this week that claimed the life of 30-year-old Kyle Malcolm Stoney and sent a 23-year-old female to hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Police investigators spoke to witnesses and viewed video surveillance to determine that Mawakeesic was to be charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm. She was located at a Trillium Way residence just after 5:30 p.m. on October 16, 2018 and taken into custody without incident.

She has been remanded into custody.

Police are awaiting the results of the post mortem as well as the results of the Fire Marshall's examination.

This investigation is ongoing.

A very extensive police investigation resulted in the arrest of 31 year old Charles Norman Casmey in relationship to a homicide that occurred on February 26, 2018.

Members of various units with the TBPS worked in conjunction with resources supplied by the Ontario Provincial Police to contain and evacuate the 500 block of McTavish Street last night. Eventually Charles Casmey was taken into custody when he surrendered to police at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Charles Casmey will appear in court this morning charged with:

· Second Degree Murder
· Assault Causing Bodily Harm
· Fail to Comply with Recognizance

The TBPS woudl like to thank the residents in the affected vicinity for their cooperation in allowing for a swift evacuation of their residences. This cooperation was imperative for public safety and allowing for a successful outcome.

Thunder Bay Police Service is currently investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning at a residence in the 500 block of McLaughlin Street.

A 911 call from a female was received at 5:40 a.m. requesting police and ambulance to attend the residence. When officers arrived they located a 63 year old male who was deceased and a 25 year old female who was injured.

The female was taken to the hospital by ambulance, treated and released. The victims and the suspect in this incident are known to each other.

Charles Norman Casmey, 31 year old of Thunder Bay is arrestable for Second-Degree Murder and Assault Causing Bodily Harm. He is considered armed and dangerous. The police are advising the public to make no attempt to interact with him and to call 911 if he is observed in public. The victim in the February 5th North Cumberland Street homicide has been identified as 28-year-old Nicholas Wendal BAXTER of Thunder Bay.

The second person charged in connection to the homicide appeared before court on February 8th and has been remanded into custody to February 14th, 2018.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on February 5th, 2018, police attended a motel in the 400 block of Cumberland Street North.

A 28 year old male was taken to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences where he was declared deceased.

A post mortem examination is expected to occur in Toronto on Thursday, February 8th.

The name of the deceased will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

Christopher Achneepineskum, 45 years old of Thunder Bay has been charged with Homicide in the 1st Degree.

He appeared before video court Wednesday morning and has been remanded in custody with a court date of February 15th, 2018.

A 36 year old female is also in custody and has been charged with Accessory After Fact to Murder.

The name of the female accused will be released after she makes her first court appearance on February 8th, 2018.
