Update: SABOON MAKES VIDEO COURT APPEARANCE FROM THE THUNDER BAY JAIL

#LSN_Crime
THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO - March 8, 2019 (LSN) Appearing by video this afternoon, Friday March 8,2019 in Bail Courtroom 104 from the Thunder Bay Jail is 27 year old MUSAB KHAMIS SABOON. He is a larger than average man with an athletic build. The Sudanese born SABOON has very dark skin and is wearing the traditional orange jailhouse garb.
He is so dark that it’s very hard to make out other features. It’s just a black and orange figure. The lighting at the jail isn’t exactly the brightest either.
Her Worship, Denette Maslach is presiding. Provincial Crown Sarah Munsch is here along with Duty Counsel Robert Atatise.
MUSAB KHAMIS SABOON turned himself in to the Waterloo Region Police Service around 1 a.m. on Tuesday February 5,2019
SABOON was wanted by city police on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder and kidnapping in relation to the homicide investigation of Lee Chiodo.
SABOON tells the court that he has retained renowned Kitchener Attorney Brennan J. Smart to represent him.
There will be nothing to consider by the court today other than setting a next appearance date.
Justice of the Peace Maslach has NO AUTHORITY to consider bail.
A murder charge in Canada means an automatic detention order is issued so he doesn’t have an entitlement to a bail hearing. The next step will be to submit a bail review in front of a Superior Court of Justice.
A publication ban order is requested under Section 486.4 (1)(a) by Crown Attorney Munsch that bans publication of any information identifying any witnesses in this case. The order is granted by the court.
SABOON is ordered not to have any contact with his co-accused 47 year old Dave Hui or 27 year old Marshall Hardy. Both men are already in custody at the Thunder Bay Jail.
DAVE HUI has stated that David Bruzzese is his lawyer and MARSHALL HARDY has Michael Hargadon as his Attorney.
SABOON will make his next video court appearance on March 29,2019 at 1pm.
SABOON has a very lengthy and violent criminal record in Canada
Duty Counsel Atataise will make contact with Kitchener lawyer Brennan Smart and let him know who to contact for disclosure request.
