 VEHICLE STOP RESULTS IN DRUG SEIZURE Hiighway 527

NIPIGON, ONTARIO - April 25, 2019   (LSN)  - On April 24, 2019 officers from the Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Armstrong OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 527.

 Investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of an illegal substance. Police seized 216 Oxycodone pills and 7 Ritalin pills. The drugs have an estimated value of $4400.

 Matthew MATINET, 39 years of age, from Whitesand First Nation was arrested and charged with two offences contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):

 -Possession of a Schedule l Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Opioid contrary to section 5(2) CDSA,

-Possession of a Schedule lll Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) CDSA.

 He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 12, 2019 to answer to the charges.
