Border Cats Sign 3 Player for 2019 Season

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO  -  January 10, 2019  (LSN)  The Thunder Bay Border Cats are pleased to announce the first player signings for 2019 Northwoods League season.  Manager Eric Vasquez has signed Canadian born infielder Thomas Grilli, outfielder Anthony Galati, pitcher Brendan Cindric and infielder Nathan Soriano. 

 

Grilli , who hails from Mississauga, Ont., is a high school graduate of St. Michael’s College in Toronto and played in the Ontario Blue Jays baseball program.  The 6’0”, 185 pound shortstop is currently in his freshman season at Panola College in Carthage, Texas.

 

Galati is entering his sophomore year at Sacramento City College in California, where he batted .279 in 43 games last season with two home runs and 22 runs batted in.   The 5’11”, 180 pound left-handed hitter is a product of Reno, Nev.

 

Cindric is a sophomore at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.  The 6’4”, 185 pound lefthander played his high school baseball in the golden state at Monte Vista H.S. in Danville, where he recorded a 1.06 ERA in 24 2/3 innings during his final varsity season. 

 

Soriano, a native of Tucson, Ariz., attends Houston Baptist University in Texas.  The 6’2”, 190 pound junior previously played at San Diego’s Palomar College and hit .352 last season with 22 runs batted in and 35 runs scored in 40 games. 

 

The Border Cats open the 2019 regular season on Tuesday, May 28, at 7:05 pm against the Duluth Huskies at Port Arthur Stadium. Fans can visit www.bordercatsbaseball.com to take advantage of the early bird season ticket special through February 28.
